About Surfmoot

What is Surfmoot?

Surfmoot is one of Victoria’s longest running Rover events, starting back in 1931.

Surfmoot has something for everyone – from swimming at the beach, to watermelon rugby, a waterslide, or just sitting back and taking it easy. Surfmoot has always been run on the beach, starting its life on the banks of the Anglesea River and moving up the hill when Eumeralla Scout Camp opened it’s gates, and has spent the rest of it’s life here, except for a few years at Phillip Island, but the main ideal of the weekend has never changed!

Surfmoot is all about getting down to the beach and relaxing, or getting up and running around all day doing on-site activities – it’s up to you!

When is Surfmoot?

Surfmoot runs over the Australia long weekend, or over the weekend closest to Australia Day when there’s no long weekend.

Where is Surfmoot?

Surfmoot is held at Eumeralla Scout Camp, located just an hour an a half drive from Melbourne’s CBD, right on the Great Ocean Rad. With it’s spectacular ocean and bushland views, and just 3 minutes drive from the exclusive sea change town of Anglesea.

How to get to Surfmoot?

Drive

Driving to Surfmoot is easy – the Great Ocean Road comes straight past the front gate of Eumeralla! Cars will be parked in a well lit and secure car park for the weekend, so all movement off-site (eg to Anglesea and Torquay) will be via our Surfmoot Courtesy Buses where possible.

Bus / Train

If you are in Melbourne, trains run from Southern Cross station to Geelong regularly. From the station, buses run down the coast to the site.

Fly

If you are coming from interstate, the best airport to fly into is Avalon – it’s just out of Geelong, the closest major centre to Anglesea. There is a bus service that runs from Avalon to Geelong, and from there, a bus runs down the Great Ocean Road to Anglesea.

Site Services

Surfmoot is a camping weekend, so bring your tent and all you need for a weekend of fun in the sun!

There will be a canteen, servicing lots of tasty hot and cold food; a menu will be up on the website so check back soon.

Anglesea is the nearest town to Surfmoot and has everything you will need from hardware to fuel.
